How is Kundli calculated?
Kundli calculation combines your birth details with planetary astronomy and the sidereal (Vedic) zodiac.
A Kundli is built from three inputs: date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth (latitude and longitude). From these, astronomical formulae compute the exact positions of the planets.
The main steps
- Convert local birth time to a universal time instant.
- Compute each planet's longitude along the ecliptic using astronomy models.
- Apply the ayanamsa (usually Lahiri) to shift from the tropical to the sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology.
- Determine the Lagna from the local horizon at the birth location.
- Place planets into rashis and houses, then derive nakshatras and dashas.
Panda Ji uses a precise astronomy engine, so the positions match standard Drik-Panchang style calculations.
